Glass splat sculptures are made with thin sheets of glass hand cut and layered so that this "splat" shape is created when the glass melts together at temperatures over 1400 degrees. The glass layers then are fused and it becomes one solid piece.
This sculpture is thin layers of lavender and violet colored glass. After the fusing process takes place, ususally two or three kiln firings, then it is molded into a shape by draping it over hand made molds and heated again in the kiln so the glass gently bends to the shape desired.
It measures 6.5" wide and 2" high.
